Also known as “Al” or “Pops”, is driven by passion for the sport and seeing people succeed. Rise Athletics LA and his students are his babies. Al has an extensive background in martial arts, holding a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and over 10 years of experience in BJJ. He also took Virgil Hill to a belt title with his strength & conditioning training in the 1990s. He leads the team by instructing beginner’s jiu jitsu classes as well as StrikeForce Cardio Kick. Alberto has also successfully coached multiple students to NAGA world championship titles for jiujitsu and holds his own victories as well. He has a first in, last out mentality with determination and success to showcase it.
Taylor is the manager of Rise Athletics LA, but also the strength & conditioning and nutrition coach for the professional fighters and any members interested in elite training. He holds his master’s degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Strength & Conditioning and nutrition and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. Taylor ran track at a D1 university and continues to run professionally over the distance of 400m. Transformations, sports performance and diet enhancement are his forte. Ozzy heads the MMA department at Rise Athletics LA. He is our in house professional fighter and instructor. Ozzy is patient and passionate about teaching students techniques and MMA disciplines. He is teaches no gi jiu jitsu and our StrikeForce Cardio Kick class. Ozzy has a 3-2 professional fight record and is sponsored by Punishment Athletics headed by Tito Ortiz. Founder of Espada Boxing DTLA, Ramon is the head of our boxing department. During his time he has worked with many professionals and amateurs alike around the community. He is currently the head coach for USC Boxing Club, as well as professional like Raymond Daniels and amateur stars. He enjoys teaching the art of boxing and the proper fundamentals. This guy defines passion for the sport. Tony coaches for the UCLA Club boxing and also puts on circuit based boxing classes. He brings in great energy to the gym and like to see students develop. Tony also provides private training lessons for boxers and those looking for a more personal boxing workout as well. Tony holds multiple certifications from the Onnit Academy and RockTape application.
Melody has been a lover of movement her whole life. She started off as a dancer and a runner but then found capoeira. During her capoeira training she turned to yoga to compliment her game. As she developed her yoga practice she felt a calling to teach. Melody has completed her 200 hour TT at One Down Dog in Silver Lake as of 2016. She also spends time volunteering with local schools and organizations as well as teaches privately in a home studio. She can be found on Instagram by @melodyismagic.
Elijah Oseguera is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Group Personal Training Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, who is eager to share his passion for boxing and health and fitness. Born and raised in Los Angeles, this fitness fanatic was a high school varsity captain in both basketball and volleyball. College introduced him to boxing and he has since instructed group classes of all ages and experience levels. Specializing in boxing, high intensity interval training, and core strength, his training philosophy is that if you have a body you are an athlete; time to train like one.
